Handi-Vac Vacuum Sealer

Here;s an insentive for club members to start posting content.
These gadgets are handy when storing hops in the fridge by extracting the air from the sealed freezer bags. They seam to work better in the fridge as apposed to the freezer and as we all know now, there's really no benifit to storing you stash in the freezer anyway.
There's are a couple of bags supplied as well as a set of batteries, so from now until the next club meeting everyone who posts any content on this site can have one for FREE.

Doing a clean-up at work and found a couple of boxes of these things which are surplus to our needs.

Any tips on getting these to work. I cant seem to get it to suck all the air out

You need to move the suction head around some until it gets in the right position to work.

I tried that, even tried just sucking on the valve with another pump and my mouth. Its as if the valve wasnt punched out properly when made and is still sealed up on the bags? I noticed some slight U shaped cuts into the top of the valve around the blue circle and I assume they are what lets the air suck through but they seem like they werent cut out properly and dont let air through.
I will bring them along to the next meeting.

Place the "rough" strip vertically in the foil bag you want to seal, so that only a tiny bit of the narrow end sticks out. Then when you vacume the foil bag with the FS, the strip works like a funnel to give the air an escape-route.
If using for delicate stuff such as chips, be sure to hit the "seal" button as soon as most of the air is out, so you don't end up with a crumbled mess.
You can use the same strip till the foil bag is empty. click here
